I was able to see Bettina von Zwehl’s miniature portraits at the Purdy Hicks Gallery this past weekend. Made up love songs and other works chronicles a set of images taken daily of Sophia (pictured) for a month. Other photographs were made in the same fashion, all stemming from von Zwehl’s fascination with Renaissance painting miniatures. The tiny portraits (only 5.8cm in size) are haunted with incredible detail and rich light.
